It’s always hard to talk about yourself. I am so fascinated by others and their stories. I am a widowed Mom of a 15-year-old son. We moved down to San Diego from LA in 2016 and have been loving the pace and community that San Diego offers. I came from a high-level corporate career in event sales to create my own boutique event firm, The Mob Squad. Using my style of relationship-based selling, I have had the opportunity to create relationships in the hospitality and entertainment sectors here in San Diego! The friendships that my son and I have built here and the community surrounding us make me smile daily.
Volunteering to be a part of the East Village Association has been an uphill battle that is now working towards being a true partner to the EV community. Being a part of the difference is EVERYTHING to me. Working beside other small businesses, and watching our client/guest base grow is fantastic!
About Robyn Spencer
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Mom of a 15 (almost 16) year-old son. Mom lives in Riverside County – lots of “aunties” all over the LA area
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I enjoy the chaos, the drama, and the end result of bringing smiles to people’s faces as they attend the events and festivals I manage. I have been working in the event & hospitality industry for 25 years. Everything from the concierge in a Tripe A-4 star hotel, event managing community concerts, leading an event sales team of 20 to now being a Festival Manager for non-profit and civic groups in the US.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Listen – not just hear, but listen. Ask questions, get informed!
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Splitting my time between Italy (where my son wants to attend university) and my condo in East Village, still managing festivals & events

9th Floor of the Central Library. The treasures and history in the Special Collections, Hervey Family Rare Book Room, and art gallery capture our fine city and beyond!

Edyth Broad as my lunch guest at Artifact in the Mingei Museum – we could talk about art
For Fun

“The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window & Disappeared”; currently watching Jury Duty
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I auditioned to be a tour guide at Universal Studios – made it to the final round, and got so nervous I biffed it – I have worked hard on “my game” ever since!

Our Sunsets!
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My son!
Q: What community organizations and/or local nonprofits do you admire/support?
