I moved to San Diego from Key West Florida when I was in elementary school. Living in these beautiful nature-filled environments has been a great source of inspiration for me as an artist. I love to create jewelry, fashion, and art from bits of nature as well as photo captures on my travels up the coast of California. I also work with children with special needs as well as teach art to children. I am a visual storyteller. I have shared my stories at a multitude of galleries and museums including the San Diego Museum of Art, Natural History Museum, Museum of the Living Artist, and US Grant Hotel to name a few. I enjoy creating stories that you the “reader” can interpret as you feel your way through the emotion and symbolism portrayed in each piece. I find inspiration in nature, people, emotions, and the energetic spirituality that links us all together. My intent is to draw you in with the complexities of the visual stories I tell to notice a new detail or meaning that went unnoticed at the previous viewing and in doing so create an ever-evolving art piece. My love for art has been a lifelong journey. I have a unique style and hope my art inspires everyone who views it. Follow my journey

About Ginger Lou

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I have two adult sons and am an only child. Being raised in a Navy family kept me far away from my extended family. I was raised as a latchkey child and had to learn to take care of myself from a young age. I have never been married because of my independence but at the same time longed for a family and have always loved children so I decided to have my own.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

Being an intuitively creative soul has led me to a career filled with art in many forms including hangable artwork, fashion, and jewelry. I love and appreciate the peace the process of creating gives me along with the joy I receive by sharing my gifts with others. In addition to being creative, I love giving back to the community by providing care to children in need.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

My advice to others is to constantly reframe negative thoughts to see things from the more motivating standpoint. Be your own cheerleader and spread kindness and joy to others as well.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Working with children as a behavior intervention technician, continuing my art career, and expanding my sales footprint to more shops and markets. Road-tripping with someone special to collect inspiration and natural elements for my jewelry and fashions.

The weather, proximity to the beach, Los Angeles, open spaces mountains, and everything in between

Q: If you could choose anyone alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

I’d have to say Audrey Hepburn and John Lennon I know you said 1 but I’m not playing by the rules. I adore and appreciate both of their contributions to society, their individuality, and their beautiful souls.
