As the CEO of Kloss Creatives — a PR and branding agency serving clients worldwide, with a focus on health and food — my passion is uncovering and telling stories. I started my career as a journalist and editor for brands like Reader’s Digest, ELLE Decor, Good Housekeeping, Prevention, Woman’s Day, and beyond. To this day, I’m still an active media contributor for outlets like Entrepreneur, Runner’s World, Livestrong, Linkwell Health, and Hone Health. My experience also includes shaping marketing strategy for global corporations like Scholastic and AT&T.
I’m currently an Emerging Leaders Board Member for the North San Diego Business Chamber and volunteer with business students at California State University San Marcos. Giving back to the next generation of leaders is important to me, as I am extremely grateful to the many mentors who shaped my own journey.
About Kelsey Kloss
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My husband and I live in San Diego with our rabbit (Fritz) and our dog (Pebbles) — they’re best friends! My parents currently live in Las Vegas and I have an older sister in South Dakota.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’m most passionate about uncovering stories that can enrich the world, which is why I started my career as a journalist. Now, as a PR agency owner, I get to further that mission with the many companies we work with who are making an incredible impact. I truly believe that when we learn each other’s stories, we understand each other. When we understand each other, we have the patience to learn from one another.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Listen more than you speak. In today’s world, everyone has a microphone and platform through social media, but it’s just as important to stay open to listening closely — you never know what you’ll learn or discover about others.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Making an even greater impact worldwide with our team’s storytelling work — and continuing to contribute and give back to the vibrant San Diego community.
Kelsey Kloss & Our Community
Q: What are a few of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Taste of the Himalayas, Roberto’s, and Din Tai Fung
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I moved to San Diego from NYC in the spring of 2023 but spent quite a bit of time here when I lived in California previously.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
There are too many to name just one! But I’ll mention North San Diego Business Chamber CEO Chris Thorne, Pique Publishing CEO Nadia Geagea Pupa, Sharia’s Closet founder/CEO Shamine Linton, and Local Umbrella Media publisher Brad Weber.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Like so many others, I have several special memories with friends and family at Hotel Del, which always feels magical!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
How open others are to meeting, getting to know each other, and having that coffee together. San Diego has so many vibrant, unique communities and it’s been so rewarding to get to know the people who make them up. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and we’ve been able to quickly grow our community and sense of belonging here.
Q: If you could choose anyone alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?
Celine Dion, because I’ve admired her since childhood and she’s done so much great philanthropic work! I’d have lunch with her at George’s at the Cove.
For Fun
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I love Roman Holiday (movie)! I don’t have any top TV shows at the moment, but am open to recommendations.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
My favorite food is the humble potato!
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
San Diego! In particular, I love the Meditation Gardens in Encinitas and Torrey Pines State Reserve.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My family
Q: What community organizations and/or local nonprofits do you admire/support?
Sharia’s Closet, Torrey Pines Conservancy, St. Sarkis Armenian Church, and Deer Park Monastery
Q: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
You can’t let others live your life for you — every decision you make should reflect the life you want to craft for yourself.
Q: What Neighborhood do you live in?
University City
What I love about my Neighborhood:
The walkability, the restaurants, the parks/library by our home, Westfield UTC, and the proximity to the coast!
Please describe your ideal San Diego weekend:
Hiking at Torrey Pines Saturday morning, book browsing at the North University Community Branch Library, dinner on Coronado Island, and Sunday morning church and luncheon with our community at St. Sarkis.
Q: Finally, what three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Community, family, calm.
