I’m an artist with inewsource.org, a nonprofit investigative newsroom in San Diego. I’ve been working in the world of journalism/media for over 25 years and I enjoy jogging, playing the guitar, and reading historical non-fiction.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My amazing wife, Cathy, and I have seven wonderful children. Never a dull moment!
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’ve been a cartoonist, writer, and illustrator for most of my career and it’s all about creative problem-solving. When I solve it (by figuring out my idea or the path I want to take to tell a story) there’s a rush of adrenaline.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Always remember how short this God-given life is. If you keep that at the front of your mind, it will help with everything from your faith to your work to your relationships.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Working in the ideation and storytelling sphere.

Q: What are a few of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Buon Appetito in Little Italy, The Brigantine, Encinitas Fish Shop, and the Taco Stand locations.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I’ve lived in San Diego County for 22 years but I would vacation here as a kid with my family.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
My friend, Jim Vargas, who runs Father Joe’s Village.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
I miss the old Casa De Bandini in Old Town!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
An outdoor get-together with friends on a warm summer night.
Q: If you could choose anyone alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?
Paul McCartney at Annapurna in Mira Mesa (he a vegetarian) then we go to the Belly Up in Solana Beach and he lets me sing John parts and play rhythm guitar while he handles bass on 10 Beatles songs of his choosing.

Toy Story movies, Breaking Bad (I have eclectic tastes in entertainment!)
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I love the Sierras.

Easy drive to the beach.

Dog beach, work out, play with my kids, dinner with friends, Mass, visit my parents, take my wife out to dinner.
