| Helyne Joseph grew up in the sunny Caribbean chasing a white ball around the golf course and has created her own definition of being a professional golfer. Graduated as a Materials Science Engineer, certified as an Applied Bioinformatician and has over 10 years of experience within the Sciences.
Earned professional golf status with the EPSON tour, founded and operates Empowerment Through Golf, a San Diego 501c3 that is Diversifying the Industries of Golf & STEAM, by Empowering the Next Generation to Walk Through the Doors to Success. Helyne is a member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Professionals and hosts golf classes and programs at Sorrento Canyon Golf Center, in San Diego. Also a travel lover who has positioned herself as a travel business owner, Helyne educates others across the globe on the benefits of being in a position of ownership within the industry. | Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family. | |
| I moved here by myself about a decade ago, and most of my family is still in the Caribbean and they also frequent the East Coast. | |
| Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do? | |
| While working in coatings and then biotechnology research from 2011-2021, I continued to focus on professionally developing my golf career and along the way business coaches introduced me to travel. I’ve competed on the Pittsburgh Golfer’s Tour, Catus Tour and even earned the opportunity to play on the (now) EPSON Tour. I eventually stepped away from competition but founded Empowerment Through Golf, a Golf & STEAM focused organization to keep me rooted in the golf industry while I directed my attention back to the sciences. Currently I have the opportunity to focus on my golf and travel businesses, and what I love is how well each current element and my prior professional experiences blend to create this career. My experience within the scientific world, and as a competitive athlete has provided me with strategies that I can share with others so they can be elevated on their own journeys. I also strongly believe in exercising our entrepreneurial rights, and love that I can be an example of that in golf & travel while also encouraging others to recognize this as a professional path in the golf industry. |

| Q: What advice would you give to people? | |
| Feel encouraged to serve others in a way that is most aligned with your God given talents and abilities and you will be successful. | |
| Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years? | |
| Within the scope of work for Empowerment Through Golf in San Diego, in the next five to ten years I envision having created fruitful relationships with various local community partners where we’ve had the opportunity to assist with placing their student population in a position to reap the benefits of the ongoing efforts of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), and the Professional Golf Association (PGA) to truly diversify the golf industry. For some this may mean learning how to play the sport of golf, and earning competitive experience in order to earn college scholarships. For the young professionals it means earning career placement and recognizing the opportunities to become traditional and/or STEAM related entrepreneurs within the industry. Within the world of travel in the next five to ten years I see myself becoming a millionaire, and here’s why I say this. |

| Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community? | |
| I’ve lived and worked in San Diego now for over ten years. I couldn’t even tell you where the time went, but I am enjoying it here. It’s home now. | . |
| Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community? | |
| I love the ocean. It’s one of the things I missed most after moving from the Caribbean to the East Coast for college. Having easy access to the ocean, opportunities to work in Science and living in a golf destination were some of the qualities that drew me to San Diego.
Now, the community that I’ve built here is one of my favorite things. |

| My mother is undoubtably the most inspirational person to me. If her constant guidance and prayer wasn’t enough, her actions truly inspire me to bring only my best to the table every day.
My family, friends and professional colleagues also inspire me with all that they do, and create a great environment for me to stretch into growth opportunities. |

Q: Who is an interesting person you’ve met here in our community, and how have they inspired you?
Retired Command Master Chief Isabella Hansen-Purnell and Celebrity Events Planner Makena Gargonuu are two leaders in San Diego whose careers have not only inspired me, but these are two professional women who have mentored and shown up constantly for me in all of my organizational and entrepreneurial endeavors.
