San Diego has felt like home since I arrived in 1984. After years of building restaurants, I found myself drawn to Bankers Hill’s vibrant spirit in 2016. Opening Parc Bistro wasn’t just about creating a restaurant; it was about becoming part of a community. The warmth and acceptance we’ve received from our neighbors have been incredibly humbling and rewarding.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

For the past eight years, Parc Bistro has been my home in Bankers Hill. However, my connection to the community goes back even further, as my very first job in San Diego was at Mister A’s when I first arrived in 1984. I’ve witnessed the neighborhood’s evolution and am thrilled to be a part of its ongoing transformation.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

It’s impossible to pick just one! Bankers Hill is brimming with amazing individuals. However, Nancy Chase and Laurie Black hold a special place in my heart for their dedication and positive contributions to the neighborhood.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

The building that houses Parc Bistro holds a unique piece of Bankers Hill’s history. It was once Lips nightclub and restaurant, a local icon. It’s inspiring to be part of this space’s ongoing story and contribute to the neighborhood’s vibrant legacy.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

The proximity to the Old Globe, Balboa Park, and the cultural offerings of the symphony and opera is truly unmatched. Witnessing the neighborhood’s transformation and its emergence as a prominent destination within San Diego is incredibly exciting.

Q: If you could choose anyone alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

I would be honored to share another meal with esteemed winemaker Chris Carpenter, known for his exceptional Napa Valley creations like La Jota, Cardinale, and Lokoya. Naturally, the perfect setting for this culinary conversation would be none other than Parc Bistro! We’d be able to savor the exceptional food and engage in a delightful discussion about our shared passion for wine and hospitality.

For Fun

Of course, I’d have to say Parc Bistro! But in all seriousness, traveling through the South of France is an experience that truly deserves a 10 out of 10.
