I have loved San Diego since I was a little girl. I moved away for a while and now I have returned for an opportunity to serve the Diamond District in all of the ways that it has served me my whole life. I am happily a community advocate whose goal is to provide access to tangible resources to families in my community. I am passionate about education in all forms, formal and life. I always want my actions and words to speak life into my community. I am here to share my resources and talents with the community that I hold so dearly.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I am mom to the most amazing human being that I have ever and will ever meet! My son is a teenager who is intelligent, kind, respectful and a dynamic sports player. I could go on forever telling you how amazing he is!

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

I have spent the last 10+ years working as a community advocate in Indianapolis and now back in San Diego. I provide resources, facilitate programming and conduct trainings for youth and adults. I am a member of the board for Skyline Tigers Football. I currently serve as the Student Enrollment and Recruitment Advocate for KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy A 5th-8th grade middle school located at Euclid and Market. I am passionate about making sure that parents have a choice in their education options.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Your life is what you make it! Never give anyone else the pen and paper to write your story!!!

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

I see myself taking a more active role in building up my already amazing community. Possibly through local politics.

Rainy Holt & Our Community

Q: What are a few of your favorite restaurants in our community?

Recently I have been a repeat customer of Tonys Fish and Chips. In love grabbing a smoothie or bowl from The Write Juice truck. I also love dropping into The Mental Bar to grab coffee and join in the many events they host.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I moved to San Diego when I was six years old. I left for a few years as an adult and returned about three years ago.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

When my child began school at KIPP Adelante I met our Dean of Students Javonna Robinett. She is so passionate about not only education but helping families break the social and economic barriers that face our students and families. She always has a smile on her face and is at the ready when students, family and staff need something.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

Huffman’s Bar-B-Q was a staple in my childhood. My mama loved her a snapper sandwich or some rib tips!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

My favorite thing about my community is that it literally has everything you could possibly want. The burst of entrepreneurs in our city has started to fill in the gaps of service that we were desperately seeking especially after covid shut down so many businesses.

Q: If you could choose anyone alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

I would love, love, love to meet and have lunch with Shaquille O’Neal. I love his background as a businessman. He frequently does charitable acts wherever he is. I would love to pick his brain about basketball then and now. I think we would have a mobile tour of different food trucks and pop-ups in the city!

I would rate the Banana Pudding Cheesecake from The Sweet Red Peach in Menifee a whole 10 out of 10.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My son inspires me to work as hard as I can to show up as my most authentic and best self every day. He is so smart and so talented that he forces me to work harder to keep up with him.

I absolutely admire and support the teams at Black San Diego, Open Heart Leaders, FANCY and Our Kings. Each are providing a valuable resource to our community.
