Q: What advice would you give to people?

Finding your purpose and passion means identifying what truly drives and fulfills you, rather than pursuing someone else’s dreams or expectations. It involves introspection, exploration, and a commitment to aligning your actions with your deepest values and aspirations. When you work towards your own dreams, you’re investing in something that resonates deeply with who you are. This journey often involves: 1. Self-Reflection: Take the time to understand what brings you joy, satisfaction, and a sense of purpose. Reflect on your strengths, values, and the activities that energize you. 2. Exploration: Try new experiences, hobbies, or career paths that align with your interests. This exploration allows you to discover what truly excites you and ignites your passion. 3. Commitment: Pursuing your dreams requires dedication and perseverance. It means setting goals, overcoming obstacles, and staying focused on your vision even when challenges arise. 4. Authenticity: Stay true to yourself and your values as you pursue your dreams. Authenticity breeds confidence and resilience, enabling you to navigate setbacks and setbacks with grace. 5. Impact: Consider how your dreams align with making a positive difference, whether in your own life, the lives of others, or in your community. Knowing that your work has meaning and purpose can be a powerful motivator. Ultimately, working towards your own dreams allows you to lead a more fulfilling and meaningful life. It empowers you to contribute your unique talents and perspectives to the world, making a difference in ways that resonate deeply with who you are.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

In 5 to 10 years, I envision Sharia’s Closet flourishing with a dedicated and sustainable donation center, ideally occupying a 10,000 square foot space at little to no cost. This facility will be meticulously organized with walk-in closets tailored to different age groups, ensuring that individuals from newborns to seniors receive the clothing and support they need with dignity. Additionally, there will be ample storage for our Bags of Hope, ready for distribution to those in need. Alongside our operational growth, I see us maintaining an onsite storage space of 30′ x 30′ to efficiently manage incoming donations from generous retail partners. This logistical hub will not only streamline our operations but also serve as a valuable community resource, allowing us to expand our impact and reach more individuals across our community. Beyond the expansion of Sharia’s Closet, I look forward to experiencing unique cultural adventures and family vacations. Traveling to places like Hawaii, Paris, the Maldives, Dubai, and the Caribbean islands will provide enriching experiences that rejuvenate and inspire me. These moments of exploration and relaxation will undoubtedly fuel my passion for serving others and making a positive difference in our community. In essence, I am excited about the future growth of Sharia’s Closet and the opportunities it will bring to both serve those in need and enjoy memorable experiences with my loved ones.

Shamine Linton & Our Community

Q: What are a few of your favorite restaurants in our community?

I have a great passion for cooking, The Brigantine in Coronado is definitely a favorite of mine when I want to enjoy a meal out. In addition to The Brigantine, The Prado at Balboa Park offers a stunning setting within the park itself, and their Californian cuisine with Mediterranean influences is always delicious. It’s the perfect spot for a special dining experience, whether with family or friends. Another favorite of mine is George’s at the Cove in La Jolla. Not only does it offer breathtaking ocean views, but their menu featuring fresh, local ingredients is outstanding. It’s a great choice for both lunch and dinner, and the atmosphere is just as impressive as the food. Both of these restaurants provide unique atmospheres and culinary experiences that I think you would appreciate, especially with your love for creativity in the kitchen. If you haven’t had the chance to try them yet, they’re definitely worth adding to your list for your next dining adventure!

Reminiscing about Anthony’s by the harbor next to the Star of India brings back such fond memories for me. Q: If you could choose anyone alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

If I could choose anyone alive today to have lunch with, it would be a tough decision between Michelle Obama and Tabitha Brown. Both of these women inspire me greatly for different reasons. Michelle Obama, with her grace, intelligence, and advocacy for education and wellness, has been a role model for many, including myself. Her ability to navigate public life with authenticity and compassion is truly admirable. I would love to hear more about her experiences as a First Lady, her initiatives promoting health and education, and her perspective on current social issues. Tabitha Brown, on the other hand, is a beacon of positivity, joy, and authenticity. Her journey from actress to vegan food influencer and motivational speaker is incredibly inspiring. I admire her passion for healthy living, her commitment to spreading kindness, and her infectious enthusiasm for life. Lunch with Tabitha would be filled with laughter, wisdom, and delicious vegan dishes. If I were to meet Michelle Obama or Tabitha Brown for lunch locally, I would choose a place that reflects San Diego’s relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere. Somewhere like Cafe Gratitude in Little Italy would provide a cozy and health-conscious environment, perfect for meaningful conversations over nourishing food. Ultimately, whether I’m discussing social issues with Michelle Obama or sharing laughs and vegan recipes with Tabitha Brown, I know it would be an enriching and memorable experience that would leave a lasting impact on me.
