Sherman and Semise got married in 2012 after both had been divorced from long-term marriages for seven years and ten years, respectively. They knew they were God-sent to each other and within less than a year after meeting online, they married. This new chapter of their lives was destined for great things; however, three and a half years later, they separated, and a year after that, they got a divorce. But God was not done with them yet. They both loved each other but didn’t know how to relate to each other successfully. Their past experiences created many obstacles they could not overcome without help.
The time apart from each other was critical as this was the time God began to work on them individually and gave them time to heal from the traumas of the failed relationship. He began to show Sherman that he needed to study to understand his wife and Semise spent much time in prayer that God would soften Sherman’s heart towards her. To consider reconciliation, after being divorced for three years, they finally both consented to get professional counseling. Getting wise counsel was the game changer! It started learning about healthy relationships and molding them into the husband and wife God desired them to be. During the Covid pandemic, they were remarried.
Out of all this, was birthed the desire to help other couples by starting Marriage Restoration Ministry, Inc. coaching business. Now, Sherman and Semise passionately help other married couples, even those who feel and think they are at the point of no return, to restore, strengthen, and fortify their relationships with God and each other. In a day and time when many think a healthy, happy marriage is impossible, they have taken charge of teaching couples Biblical principles, some of which are research proven to improve their relationships.
