I’ve always loved food. From my first memories of tasting sushi at 3 years old, to studying Food Science at UC Davis, to sustaining a 15+ year career in the hospitality industry, I’ve known that food was it for me. I currently serve as the Foundation Cultivator and Educational Engagement Chair for the non-profit, Berry Good Food. Our work is deeply rooted in providing garden and culinary education opportunities in the San Diego bioregion.
About Christina Ng
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I come from a cooking family with two great home cooks for parents, and two food-loving brothers.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
My career in food has brought me to kitchens of all kinds on food trucks, in grocery stores, and on farms. I’m grateful for all of the cooking experience I’ve gained over the years and am looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned with my community. My favorite moments in food have occurred in the kitchen classroom with students. I hope for a future where cooking engagements and opportunities to teach people where their food comes from are abundant.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Be an adventurer when it comes to food! Tasting different foods is the best way to experience a variety of flavors, cultures, and history. Believe me when I say that every dish has a story to tell!
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself continuing to teach and inspiring others to share their knowledge as well.
