Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

Family is everything to me. I’m a proud single mother of two, my son and my daughter, who have been my greatest source of strength and motivation throughout my journey. They are truly at the heart of everything I do. I’m also a proud grandmother of two, and that role has brought an entirely new level of joy and perspective into my life. My family keeps me grounded, reminds me of my purpose, and continues to inspire the legacy I’m building.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

My career has been a dynamic journey across Corporate America, nonprofit leadership, entertainment, and real estate. With over 30 years in management, I’ve had the opportunity to build, lead, and scale across multiple industries, all while staying rooted in purpose. Today, I serve as the Founder and CEO of Trio Diamond Productions, The S.W.A.E. Foundation, and Grand Horizon Property Management, and as Executive Director of the Miss Black International Ambassador Scholarship Program. I’m also the creator of Hey Sis! I Got You!, an empowerment movement that has grown beyond a book into a multi-platform brand focused on healing, storytelling, and sisterhood. What I love most about what I do is the impact. I love being able to create spaces, platforms, and opportunities that help women see themselves differently—to heal, to grow, and to walk boldly in their purpose. Whether it’s through business, creative projects, or community work, everything I do is rooted in service and transformation. At this stage in my life, it’s not just about building businesses—it’s about building legacy.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

My advice is to truly understand your purpose and stay grounded in it. Life will bring challenges, setbacks, and moments where you question everything,but your purpose is what will keep you anchored. Don’t be afraid of the hard seasons. They are often preparing you for something greater. Do the work, stay consistent, and commit to excellence, even when no one is watching. And most importantly, lead with love. The way you treat people matters. When you operate with integrity, faith, and compassion, you not only grow, you create impact that lasts far beyond you.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

In the next 5 to 10 years, I see myself operating fully in legacy and global impact. I’m continuing to expand Hey Sis! I Got You! into a worldwide movement, reaching women across cultures through books, media, live experiences, and transformational programming. I also see my organizations growing into sustainable, fully staffed operations that allow me to focus on vision, strategy, and impact at a higher level. I want to create opportunities, build platforms, and open doors for the next generation of women leaders. Most importantly, I see myself walking in alignment with my purpose, doing work that not only succeeds, but truly changes lives.

Q: What are a few of your favorite restaurants in our community?

When I’m in the San Diego area, I love supporting Black-owned restaurants that reflect both culture and community. Spots like Coop’s West Texas BBQ and Surf & Soul Spot bring that authentic soul food experience, while Muzita Abyssinian Bistro offers incredible African cuisine. I also enjoy places like One WorldBeat Café and Maya’s Cookies, they’re not just about great food, but about culture, creativity, and community. Supporting businesses like these is important to me.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

While I have not lived in the community, I have been connected to it for over 10 years through business and personal relationships. I’ve spent a great deal of time here visiting, working, and building meaningful connections, which has allowed me to develop a genuine appreciation for the community and its culture.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

One of the most interesting people I’ve met in the community is Roosevelt Williams, CEO of YBNB. His ability to combine business innovation with a strong sense of purpose and community impact is truly inspiring. I’m always drawn to leaders who are building with intention, and he’s definitely one of them.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

Because I’ve experienced the community more through visits over the years, what brings me the most nostalgia isn’t just one specific business, it’s the feeling of returning to places that have remained consistent. Local, family-owned restaurants and small businesses that have been part of the community for years always stand out to me. There’s something special about walking into a place that feels familiar, where the culture, the people, and the energy haven’t changed. Those are the moments that create a sense of nostalgia for me.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

What makes San Diego so unique to me is its effortless blend of lifestyle and culture. You feel the calm of the ocean, but also the pulse of creativity, diversity, and growth throughout the city. It’s both relaxed and driven at the same time, and that balance creates an energy that’s truly special.

Q: If you could choose anyone alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

If I could have lunch with anyone, it would be Oprah Winfrey. She represents the kind of legacy I aspire to build, one rooted in purpose, storytelling, and transformation. I would want to talk about impact, building platforms that serve others, and what it truly takes to sustain that level of influence with integrity. I’d choose Coasterra for the setting, there’s something about being by the water that creates space for deeper, more intentional conversation.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

Some of my favorite films and television shows are rooted in powerful storytelling and cultural impact. The Color Purple will always be one of my all-time favorite movies because of its depth, resilience, and message of healing and sisterhood, it’s a story that truly stays with you. I’m also excited about Michael and appreciate films like Sinners that explore deeper themes and create meaningful conversation through storytelling. When it comes to television, I grew up watching Good Times and The Jeffersons. Both shows had such a lasting impact, they reflected resilience, family, humor, and aspiration. Good Times showed strength through struggle, while The Jeffersons represented growth and elevation. Overall, I’m drawn to stories, whether film or television, that are authentic, impactful, and leave you thinking long after they’re over.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

Something many people don’t know about me is that my healing came through helping others. Even in my hardest seasons, I found strength in serving, and that became the foundation of my purpose.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

A 10 out of 10 for me is peace of mind and purpose. When you’re aligned in your spirit, walking in your purpose, and surrounded by genuine love and support, that’s everything. You can’t put a price on that kind of fulfillment.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

God inspires me to be better every day. My relationship with Him keeps me grounded, guides my decisions, and reminds me that everything I do is part of a greater purpose. My children and grandchildren are also a huge source of inspiration. They are my “why” and the legacy I’m building. I want them to see what it looks like to walk in faith, trust God’s timing, and continue moving forward, even when it’s not easy. I’m also inspired by women who lead with faith, resilience, and authenticity, women who have turned their pain into purpose and use their lives to uplift others.

Q: What community organizations and/or local nonprofits do you admire/support?

I deeply admire and support organizations that are committed to empowering women, youth, and underserved communities. As the founder of The S.W.A.E. Foundation, my work is rooted in service, creative expression, and creating opportunities that uplift and transform lives. I also support organizations that align with that mission, including National Coalition of 100 Black Women – Los Angeles Chapter, which is dedicated to advocacy, leadership, and equity for Black women and girls. In addition, I’ve had the privilege of working with youth-centered programs like Little Miss African American Scholarship Pageant, which provides mentorship, confidence-building, and opportunities for young girls to grow and lead. For me, it’s important to be connected to organizations that are not only doing the work, but making a meaningful and lasting impact in the community.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received is to “tie another knot at the end of the rope and hold on.” That reminder has carried me through some of my most challenging seasons. There were moments when things felt overwhelming, but instead of letting go, I learned to stay grounded, stay faithful, and keep moving forward. It taught me that resilience isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about trusting the process, leaning on your faith, and holding on long enough to see things through.

Q: What Neighborhood do you live in?

I’m based in the Los Angeles area, where I live and lead my businesses, while also staying actively connected to communities like San Diego through my work and ongoing relationships.

What I love most about my neighborhood is the depth of Black culture and legacy that defines it. There’s a powerful blend of history, resilience, and creativity that shows up in the people, the businesses, and the overall spirit of the community. It’s a space where culture isn’t just remembered, it’s lived, celebrated, and continuously evolving. And that’s what makes it so meaningful to me.

Please describe your ideal San Diego weekend:

My ideal San Diego weekend is rooted in balance,starting with a quiet moment by the ocean, followed by brunch at Coasterra with beautiful waterfront views. From there, I’d spend the day exploring culture, supporting local and Black-owned businesses, and enjoying the creative energy of the city. The evening would be centered around great food, meaningful conversation, and intentional connection. For me, San Diego offers the perfect blend of peace, culture, and inspiration

Q: Finally, what three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

When I think of home, I think of peace, love, and God’s presence. It’s where I feel covered, grounded, and aligned.
