Journalist and author Marlise Kast-Myers has traveled to more than 80 countries and has lived in Switzerland, Dominican Republic, Spain, and Costa Rica. Before settling in Southern California, she completed a surfing and snowboarding expedition across the world. Following the release of her memoir, Tabloid Prodigy, Marlise co-authored over 40 Fodor’s Travel Guides including books on Cancún, San Diego, Panama, Puerto Rico, Peru, Los Cabos, Corsica, Riviera Maya, Sardinia, Vietnam, California, and Costa Rica. She served as a photojournalist for Surf Guide to Costa Rica and authored Day and Overnight Hikes on the Pacific Crest Trail. Based in San Diego County, she writes travel features for The San Diego Union-Tribune and other publications. Don’t watch TV. Drive in silence. Explore more. Abandon the 9-5. Diversify. Cook from scratch. Build community. Love your neighbor. Live every day as if it’s your last.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Living in a foreign country. Having more books published.
