Michelle Lockyer has been a resident of Escondido for over 25 years. She was in the first graduating class from Cal State San Marcos with a degree in Liberal Studies. She is a mother of 5 children, three girls and two boys and has spent the past 20+ years volunteering in their schools. Michelle has been active in several local organizations in and around Escondido through her time here. She and her husband are small business owners in Escondido as they own a choose and cut Christmas tree farm here in Escondido. Michelle has been active in pageantry most of her life; competing in over 20 pageants, volunteering at many & holding titles such as Miss Clairemont 1989. She became the director of the Miss Escondido Pageant in 2020 near the end of her daughter Cynthia’s reign as Miss Escondido 2019. Her proudest moments serving Escondido have been as pageant director of the Miss Escondido Pageant. As the Miss Escondido Pageant director she mentors young women in the community to become the best versions of themselves through 8 weeks of life skill training leading up to the pageant and for the pageant winners an entire year of close mentoring. Throughout their reign, Michelle makes sure the girls serve their community in every way possible whether it be cleaning up our parks and working with the Police Athletic League to community involvement such as participation at local festivals such as the Grand Avenue Festival and the Grape Day festival and countless ribbon cuttings with the Greater Escondido Chamber of Commerce. Not only does Michelle provide these girls with a lifetime of knowledge and opportunities, but she also works to provide these young women with scholarships. By reworking & bettering the Miss Escondido Pageant, Michelle is not only serving Escondido, but is also actively shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
