I am from the farm country of southern Indiana, a family of 15. I’ve been in California for 50 years and am now a family man and business owner of Blue Ocean Window Cleaning.

About Paul Pate

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My wife of 45 years is retired from Point Loma Nazarene University and taught in the Lit/Language Dept. for 30 years. We have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

I have a degree in psychology but have been self-employed most of my working days. Blue Ocean Window Cleaning had its beginning in January 2010 as part of a survival strategy consequent to the Great Recession. I lost my job and no one was hiring anyone much less an older man. I had experience in window cleaning so began to do flyers for the neighborhood. We are now in our 14th year of business and provide window cleaning services, gutter cleaning, solar panel cleaning, screen repairs, and more. We enjoy beautifying homes for our customers.

.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Take time to look within. We give ample attention to the body and intellect but can be slow to look at the deeper issues like “Who am I” and “What is this experience I’m having on earth?”

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Retired and enjoying family and a bit of travel. I’ll also be writing and “looking within.”

Pt. Loma feels close-knit and is filled with wonderful kind people.

Q: If you could choose anyone alive today and not a relative, with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

Vivek Ramaswamy or RFK. Both are interested in our country and its future, and I think they would enjoy an In and Out hamburger.

For Fun

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

The Matrix on the big screen and First 48 on TV

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

I write fairly well and have become pretty good at throwing the Frisbee disc.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

Bitcoin on Earth and The Source of Life everywhere.

“Go within” (and check out the Bitcoin phenomena).

Q: What Neighborhood do you live in?

Point Loma

What I love about my Neighborhood:

Small and tightly knit, close.

Please describe your ideal San Diego weekend:

Get up late at 6:30 a.m. Leisurely breakfast. Read. Throw the frisbee disc for some exercise. Lunch. Some football. Nap. Evening with family and friends.

Q: Finally, what three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Happiness. Safety. Life.
